The Philosophy of Inside Out
Inside Out is a animated movie from 2015 Produced by Disney-Pixar. It reached critical and commercial success and became one of the best movies of 2015, Personally I think it is the greatest movie of all time. Anyway that is beside the point. Today I will be talking about the philosophy of Inside Out
Well in order understand the Philosophy of Inside Out we need to know the definition of philosophy itself.
phi·los·o·phy
noun
The study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence, especially when considered as an academic discipline.
Inside Out is a philosophical voyage through the human mind. The story centers around Joy who is usually in control of most of Riley’s emotional state. She is always pushing the other emotions to the side, She especially does this to Sadness who always feels left out. The two emotions get sucked out of headquarters and are forced to work together in order to get back to headquarters.
The movie shows us how the mind works in a smart and beautiful way. It shows how memories are forgotten and how they work. It shows how our personality expresses who we are through islands. It shows us our emotions work through a fun and entertaining way. The film shows us change and how sometimes change is for the better. The message of this movie is how Sadness is important too. The scene that shows Joy crying and realizes the importance of Sadness gets me bawling every time. She realized how you can't experience Joy without Sadness. And the scene that shows Joy and Sadness working together to make Riley feel better. This movie shows that there will always be hard times, but there are always good times too. I love this movie. It is a masterpiece and you can't deny it.
